Installing and managing WordPress
Install WordPress in one click on ThunderHosting web hosting, log in to wp-admin from the dashboard and manage updates, plugins, themes, cache, clones and maintenance mode.
The WordPress tab of the hosting dashboard installs and manages WordPress for you, based on the Plesk WP Toolkit. You do not need to create a database or upload files by hand.
Install WordPress
- Open the hosting dashboard and go to the WordPress tab.
- Click Install WordPress.
- Choose the domain or subdomain and, if you want, a path (leave it empty to install in the main folder of the site).
- Choose the WordPress version (Latest is recommended) and the language. The site is always set up for HTTPS.
- Enter the site title, admin email, admin user name and admin password.
- Choose whether WordPress core, plugins and themes should update automatically, then start the installation.
The dashboard shows the progress (preparing, creating the database, installing files, finalizing). When it is done, your site appears in the list.
You can install WordPress before your domain points to the hosting. Use Open Plesk preview to look at the site while DNS is not ready yet.
Log in to WordPress
Click Login to WordPress (on the WordPress tab or on the Overview tab) to open the WordPress admin area without typing your password. WP Toolkit (SSO) opens the full WP Toolkit in Plesk.
Manage your site
- Plugins and themes: install them by their wordpress.org slug, update or delete them.
- Updates: check for updates and update core, plugins or themes. Smart Updates can be enabled or disabled.
- Tools: clear the cache, switch maintenance mode on or off, flush rewrite rules.
- Clone site: create a copy of the site in a subfolder on the same domain, for example to test changes.
- WP-CLI: run a WP-CLI command (without the leading wp).
- Attach existing: scan and attach a WordPress installation that already exists on the domain.
Delete installation removes the WordPress site through the Toolkit and may delete its files. Detach from Toolkit only stops managing it and keeps the files.
Other applications
Other applications such as Joomla can be installed from Plesk (Open Plesk (SSO) on the Overview tab).
