Email accounts and webmail

Create mailboxes on your own domain, set up forwarding, change mailbox passwords and open webmail from the ThunderHosting web hosting dashboard. Includes mail client tips.

Your web hosting includes email on your own domain. You manage mailboxes on the Mail tab of the hosting dashboard. The number and size of mailboxes depend on your plan: 4 mailboxes of 5 GB with Solo Spark, 5 of 10 GB with Smart Space and 10 of 20 GB with Business Pack.

Create a mailbox

  1. Open the hosting dashboard and go to the Mail tab.
  2. Click Create mailbox.
  3. Enter the local part (the part before the @, for example info for info@example.com) and a password.
  4. Confirm. The new mailbox appears in the list with its quota.

Forwarding

Click Add forwarder, or the forwarding icon next to a mailbox, to forward incoming mail to one or more other addresses. Enter the destinations separated by commas. Use Clear forwarding to turn it off again.

Change a password or delete a mailbox

  • Key icon: set a new password for the mailbox. Remember to update it in your mail apps.
  • Trash icon: delete the mailbox. Its messages are deleted with it.

Webmail

Click Webmail on the Mail or Overview tab, or the envelope icon next to a mailbox. Webmail opens in a new tab with the address already filled in; you only enter the mailbox password. Optionally the dashboard can remember the password for the current browser session; it is stored only in your browser and never sent to our servers.

Setting up a mail app

You can use any mail app that supports IMAP and SMTP (for example Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird). The user name is the full email address and the password is the mailbox password. The exact server names and ports for incoming and outgoing mail are shown in Plesk for each mail account (Open Plesk (SSO), then Mail). If you are unsure, contact support and we will send you the correct settings.

Mail only arrives when the MX records of your domain point to the hosting. If the Mail tab shows a warning about missing mail DNS records, finish the DNS setup on the Domain / DNS tab first.
