Databases and phpMyAdmin

Create MySQL/MariaDB or PostgreSQL databases and users on ThunderHosting web hosting, allow remote access and open phpMyAdmin in Plesk for import and export.

On the Databases tab of the hosting dashboard you create databases and database users. Your plan includes 2 databases with Solo Spark, 5 with Smart Space and 10 with Business Pack. WordPress installed from the dashboard creates its own database automatically.

Create a database

  1. Open the Databases tab and click Create database.
  2. Enter a database name and choose the type offered on your server (MySQL/MariaDB or PostgreSQL).
  3. Optionally create a first user at the same time.

Database users

  • Add user: enter a user name and a password of at least 8 characters (Generate creates a strong one).
  • Users can connect locally only (localhost) by default. Applications on the same hosting can connect without extra settings.
  • To allow access from outside, enter a host in Allow remote from host, for example a fixed IP address, or % for any host. More detailed remote access rules are available in Plesk.
  • Change password and Delete user are available next to each user.

phpMyAdmin, import and export

Click phpMyAdmin on the Overview tab, or Open in Plesk on the Databases tab, to open the database tools in Plesk. There you can run SQL, import a dump and export (back up) a database. Import and export are not available directly in the dashboard.

Deleting a database cannot be undone. Export it first if you might need the data again.
