Backups, schedules and wipes
Keep your world safe with manual and automatic backups, restore files, and automate restarts, commands and Rust wipes.
Backups are stored outside the game server host, so they are safe even if a node fails. You find everything on the Backups and Schedules tabs of your server.
Manual and automatic backups
- Backup slots: how many manual backups you can keep. Create one before every big change, with a name you recognise.
- Automatic backups: choose a backup option (for example daily, keeping the last few) when ordering or later on the Plan & resources tab.
- Lock a backup to protect it from being replaced by newer ones.
- Before plan changes and moves, the system makes an extra backup by itself.
Restore everything or single files
Restore puts the whole server back to the state of the backup. To get back only a world folder or a config file, open the backup, browse its files and restore just those, either next to the current files or overwriting them.
Schedules
- Run a schedule daily, on chosen weekdays, monthly (for example the first Thursday) or every few hours, in your time zone.
- Each schedule is a list of steps: console command, wait, backup, restart, start, stop or wipe.
- Ready-made schedules: daily restart, daily restart with warnings to players, backup then restart.
- Run now tries a schedule immediately; the list shows when it runs next and how the last run went.
Wipes (Rust)
For Rust, a wipe step deletes the map, or the map and blueprints, and can pick a new random seed. Combine it with a backup and warnings, for example monthly on the first Thursday to follow the official force wipe.
Restoring a backup replaces the current files. Make a fresh manual backup first if you might want today’s state back.
