What is the difference between VPS A and VPS C?
On VPS A, the disk sits directly on the host that runs your VPS, for low latency and high throughput: ideal for game servers, databases and build jobs. On VPS C, your disk lives on our Ceph cluster and is replicated across several servers, so a single disk or host failure does not take your data with it: made for websites, shops and business apps.
Do I get root access, and which operating systems can I choose?
Yes, full root access: it is your own virtual machine, so you install and configure the software you need. You pick the operating system image at checkout; the images of each line are listed with its plans.
Can I choose my own resources?
Yes. Besides the fixed plans, you can build your own VPS and choose vCPU, RAM and disk in the checkout. For a bigger or special setup, tell us what you want to run: we help you size it or prepare a custom offer.
How is a VPS billed?
Monthly or yearly, in Swiss francs or euros: you choose the period and the currency at checkout. ThunderHosting is not subject to VAT under Swiss law, so the prices shown are the prices you pay.
Is my VPS protected against DDoS attacks?
Yes. All our services include network-wide Layer 3 DDoS protection. Layer 7 protection is available on request for selected services.
